intelligent debut …The eight originals are melodic and nuanced … “Cadence” is not only beautiful, it’s free- wheeling. Irabagon soars, Baggetta flexes and spreads, Ferber plays around, atop and behind, and Gingery, a precise anchor, puts it all together.

An original artist whose compositions have shifting dynamics, odd meter and all without losing that special lyrical sense of purpose that make Traveler so engaging.  - criticaljazz.com

...suprisingly fine original compositions ... Gingery favors novel and odd-time signature rhythms, but both he and Ferber express them with gratifyingly natural flow... - New York City Jazz Record

critcaljazz review
This CD is by bassist Bob Gingery who has studied with Ron Carter and John Patittucci. He has been active on the New York jazz scene since 1999. The quartet features John Irabagon and Mike Baggetta who are give very strong perfomances. Bob’s deep, focused sound is never overcome by the other players. The title track Traveler is a powerful tune with a 5/4 time signature and has strong forward motion. Another tune features 7/4 funk. This is highly enjoyable energetic contemporary jazz. - Kazune Hayata, Jazz Life
